This video had a more serious feel to the California Cuts and shows how it affects regular families. Families who have gone through medical problems in a time in need will be hurting even more because the medical cuts will cause a lot of patients to be left with less. Their lives are dependent on these cuts and if they are not acknowledged some are left without a chance. There are a lot of bills that come along with medical issues because I have been in a car accident where I was in the hospital for three days and if I did not have medical insurance, I would probably have to pay more than I could afford.

Interview Transcription

For the interview I went with my sister to answer the following questions on the California Budget Cuts Crisis. She is a "District Team Leader" for the company Boots, a skin care retailer.

Jed: How do you feel about the California budget crisis?
Jenna: It is a prime example for new ideas to establish change.

Jed: What is the worst part of the budget cuts?
Jenna: The cuts to education, because the children who are already suffering are going to lose even more.

Jed: What are some better ideas rather than cuts?
Jenna: We must reorganize structure, downsize, or consolidate to create a more economical change.

Jed: How are the cuts hurting you in your business field?
Jenna: Tighter budgets, less travel, cost preventive solutions.

Jed: How has business been?
Jenna: Not bad actually, because consumers are looking for a more affordable alternative, rather than spending money on high end products.

Jed: So you're business is actually thriving form the depression in a sense
Jenna: No, not really, we are stable, it just opens up for new consumer market.

Politics Summary

the Obama speech, The Audacity of Hope, gives us an example that anyone can make it. He uses his lifestyle as an entry into the sign of hope, which is his topic of his speech. We have hope and it has always been there but the country as a whole needs to have a good standard. Having a low self esteem as a nation only makes it worse for everyone in a state of depression.

Obama Inaugural

Obama is answering American peoples emotions and trying to reassure them in his speech, instead of trying to ignore the obvious, he opens up about it and sort of consoles them. He sounds like a calm coach giving the speech for a Super Bowl with his way of uniting everybody. The relationship he establishes with America is not the father type but more of business/CEO, it adds professionalism and figure to the speech. The stress in the fact the U.S. is a friendly nation and accepts all types of people gives the notion of a peace offering that Americans feel should be said. Equal opportunity is a main factor in his speech and let's everyone know that anyone has a chance no matter who you are and that is what gives America hope.

Journal Reflection-2/12/09

The new changes of our classroom and class habits were a good move. The old classroom feels boring and trapped. The new room helps give that professional feel as if we were learning in the future, after college.
