Assessing assessments

What resources did you not get and why?
The book resource because it is a brick of information that has to read through in order to find a perfect piece of data. I also have the video source to get down just because there are so many for YouTube it is hard to narrow down but there is a couple of videos that I plan to use. than my interview feels weak ad need to get more people to open up more windows of discussion.
Have you assessed your resources effectively?
Yes, most of the ones I had turned in but some need better in depth information to make my research paper go beyond the surface. They seem valid for now but may change down the road.

sources and reflection

My sources were sort of easy to find, mostly online. They related really well and gave me more insight to what I really wanted to write about. It was easier to write this way because it broke everything down and organized it. The database gave me an easier time in creating relevant information because it has abstracts of what it was about and I did not need to read the entire article to see if it was a good source.

interview

Me: Have you been to YouTube before and surfed for videos.
Friend: Yeah, when I am bored and need to kill time.
Me: What interests you the most about YouTube
Friend: it is the numerous videos and variety of subjects it relates to, especially, the video tutorials with step-by-step instructions.
Me: Would you say YouTube invades others privacy
Friends: Yeah, but it is all on that person to be careful with what they do
Me: Yeah, recently politicians have noticed the power of YouTube, it can make or break you.
Friend: of course, YouTube may be doing others a favor but at the same time people can be hurt from embarrassing moments forever.
Me: What if you found a video of yourself online that had you pictured in a bad light.
Friend: probably post a response video to clear my name or make a spoof off of it and create something comedic.
Friend: The advantages of YouTube are plenty but they have to be used in the right way.
Me: True, free advertisement is a lot of money saved in the pocket.
The functions of YouTube create a user-friendly place that has been influencing the media. The exposure has been notified through underground taboo music enthusiasts and political campaigns. The public awareness hits people of all ages and interests. The relations of keywords can connect two random interests into one subject. Ex. Comedic spoofs of presidential campaigns.

newspaper

The reach of YouTube goes from the mainstream entertainment to the underground spiritual side we do not see everyday. It can provide for those who do no fit societies general entertainment. For example, there are monks who became famous for posting a chant video online to YouTube.
Though they are based at the world's second-oldest Cistercian monastery, established in 1133 and 10 miles west of Vienna, the monks were discovered in a very modern way, by responding via YouTube to advertisements seeking medieval chanters. They beat more than 100 other entries from around the world.
Their exposure would not have been as successful if they did not have an internet portal to enter to let the world know about their chanting skills. Who knew people would like them enough to get them signed by Universal Records. The influence YouTube has and the questions it answers are what make it popular. It pushes a taboo style to the public and brings back fans. The open-minded users of YouTube are felt and strengthened when something like chanting monks is propelled into commercial record companies.

magazine

Media was only available when the company service provided it, now it is being recorded and viewed anytime they wish. The strength of the media was noticed when the presidential election between Kennedy and Nixon. The people who viewed the television sought favor of Kennedy but those who listened heard favor in Nixon. The expansion of YouTube and the focus in on Presidential campaigns created a one-stop place to view everything, from campaign ads to campaign speeches.
Since then, campaigns have been trying to get a handle on YouTube, a tool that can be a politician's best friend or worst enemy-able to showcase opponents' flaws, deliver new mixes of politainment and offer the prospect of pitches longer than 30 seconds.
This puts a nozzle on politicians and controls their flow, because they know now the power of YouTube. It can change a whole persons race for a political office if something faulty is recorded. People can let the world know by one click that he/she said one statement and it can forever decide the decision of some voters. YouTube operates for the people and by the people therefore making it easier for common America to see whom the best person for office is. It is a strong influence because people can also break into details with comments and offer links to further support their stance.

journal

YouTube has a handle on their network of video connections. It is a sound network that has the best way for viewers to express their opinions through videos or comments. It is strongly considered a network because of the mass influence it has in our society. As stated by James Tier,
I explained that a mosh pit associated with punk and grunge live music, is a space that typically forms close to the stage where a band plays and where people engage in a spontaneous performative act (I can’t really call it dancing) that, looking at it from the margins seems to be a whirl of seemingly chaotic yet spontaneously patterned movement in which people are basically moving into one another, brushing by one another, and sometimes slamming into one another. The movement happens in a sort of circling, crisscrossing, suddenly about-face fashion while the band plays a typically loud and fast song.
He refers to the to state of YouTube as a place where this mosh pit type behavior occurs. Through the commenting and opinions expressed people interact with one another as if they were in a mosh pit. It reflects the instances and spontaneous behavior that are captured on YouTube. This signifies it is a justifiable network that can sure enough have an effect on how media is perceived by the world by having almost anyone put some noteworthy views that can lead to a wide array of options.

Wikipedia-Youtbe

YouTube has been around for a couple years already giving it enough time to be reviewed and talked about. Wikipedia has some great information for those who have not experienced YouTube. This gives great general detail in how it started, where it spread to, and how it functions. There is detail about legal matters, it describes terms of service. There have been recorded instances of people using copywritten materials. This leads to their criticism section and lists problems they have ran into concerning privacy issues.
The information here is very useful. I could use it to find the creaters of Youtube and when it started. The little facts that act as a biography for YouTube are the best pieces of information. It can lead to deeper searches in more resourceful and respected sources. I could write about the effects YouTube has had on society and how it connects us with the world. If people tried they can be a YouTube celebrity and start a movement of some sort for serious or comedic reasons.

Social Network

If people are trying to kill time, share videos, connect visually, and entertain people across the world YouTube is the place to click. It offers a social network that allows other users to view people and their interests. It is a video visual and makes it much easier for other to understand someone rather than reading text and taking things out of context. In the social network world it is mostly a text that we read and can misinterpret information. A video is easier to get a point across because it is the raw form of your character.

They allow non members to view, so, joining YouTube is not forcing people to sign up just to watch some videos. This means family members who just want to see a quick view of their YouTube prodigy it is easy as Googling. This user friendly interface has made it one of the most popular sites on the internet. It has started some careers through the internet world. They say it is not what you know but who you know and if you do not know anybody YouTube can change that forever even if it is not in your favor.

This site is very effective in getting a worldwide connection going. People who are illiterate can offer opinions just because eyes and ears are their only requirement to understand a persons video. We have seen people become successful and gain recognition through this site through fake characters (LonelyGirl), creativity, and comedy.

Information can be put there against other peoples will just because they did not know they were being filmed or if it was going on the internet. For example, hotel party after a few drinks can lead to someone dancing in their boxers. This can be put on the internet without the approval of the intoxicated. Ultimately, irresponsibility in the real world has its consequences and they are prolonged in the internet world. We can blame YouTube for the embarrassment but it would not be there if people were more careful. Yes, we should respect people and their privacy but it should be the file uploader who has more responsibility over the actions rather than YouTube.
